New Categories for 2023
Award for Excellence in Podcasting
Created to celebrate excellence in podcasting by media outlets and recognize their status as a medium meant to inform and entertain through audio storytelling. Qualifying entries should be no more than a five-minute compilation from various programs recorded in the previous year. Each entry should include stand-alone programs not dependent on companion pieces in print or digital media. Judges will base their decisions on the production of the podcast, as well as the entry’s ability to tell Jewish stories in an entertaining manner. Credits should include the name of the host, producer, audio engineer and additional reporters. Entries should include a brief description of the podcast, its theme and format.
Award for Excellence in General Newsletters
Created to honor a print or digital media outlet’s email newsletters. Judges will base their decision on the newsletter’s look, format, and design. Decisions will not be based on content, although outlets are encouraged to submit newsletters meant to deliver specific messages: breaking news, lifecycle events, individual stories as well as general newsletters not focused on specific stories or formats. Newsletters should be independent, stand-alone products that do not rely on print or publication websites to support them. Each entry must consist of a single newsletter.
