The JC is looking for a US news writer to cover Jewish life in America. We want to expand our coverage of politics, culture and Jewish life across the country, focusing in hubs including New York, Florida, Chicago and LA. A reporter will be expected to liaise with the news desk in London and file clean copy quickly.

Guest Managing Editor, B'Yachad Magazine - Jewish National Fund-USAOrganization: Jewish National Fund-USA City: New York Location: New York Date Needed: 04/15/2024 Post Until: 03/30/2024 Category: Editorial, Non-Profit Type of Position: Part-Time Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree Experience Requirement: 5 - 10 years Description and Details: Start date: April 15 Duration: 4-6 months Time: 10-20 hours per week Remuneration commensurate with experience Role responsibilities: • Lead the creation of between one to two editions of Jewish National Fund-USA’s triannual B’Yachad Magazine, from story and theme ideation to publication. • Gain familiarity with Jewish National Fund-USA’s mission, action areas, editorial guidelines, branding, and activities in order to produce the organization’s magazine to a high standard. • Assign stories and deadlines and provide feedback to the organization’s freelance writers. • Connect freelance writers to the appropriate external stakeholders to secure content, interviews, and photographs. • Maintaining the existing template, write and edit stories to a strict word count for the entire magazine. • Coordinate with print consultant about generating and meeting production deadlines. • Communicate with internal stakeholders to secure content, feedback, and approval for magazine columns and features. • Liaise with Creative Department to facilitate the design of the magazine. • Meet deadlines for print production. • Copyediting and proofreading as necessary before the magazine goes to print. You have: • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle many moving pieces at once. • Comfort in communicating with new people from different backgrounds who speak different languages. • A track record of being a self-start and independent problem solver. • An ability to exercise empathy and be comfortable receiving feedback and direction while also providing clear guidance and feedback to others. • Experience editing magazines and articles You may also have: • Familiarity with AP style • Knowledge of the Hebrew language (but not a necessity) • An understanding of the history – both ancient and modern of Israel and the Jewish People. • A positive can-do attitude How to Apply / Contact
