Managing Editor, B’Yachad Magazine & National Donor Media Manager

Position Overview

Jewish National Fund-USA seeks to recruit a “Managing Editor, B’Yachad Magazine & National Donor Media Manager.” This position will report to the Director of Communications and work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, donors, lay leaders, campaign staff, marketing account executives, members of the communications team, creative designers, printers, and mailing houses. In this role, you will oversee the entire production of JNF-USA’s award winning B’Yachad magazine, published three times per year, draft Direct Mail letters, and oversee content for JNF-USA’s annual Year in Review publication. You will also work closely with our fundraising staff and donors as the main point of contact for the creation and placement of news stories about our incredible donors. Position responsibilities:

• Manage the overall production of B’Yachad including:

• Planning each issue’s theme

• Creating a content plan for each issue

• Identifying donor stories to highlight

• Interviewing donors

• Managing freelance writers while also writing articles

• Working closely with an in-house creative design and marketing team

• Proofreading

• Draft Direct Mail fundraising letters (4x annually)

• Oversee content for JNF-USA’s annual Year in Review publication

• Proactively and reactively manage national donor recognition in the media and be the main point of contact for fundraisers looking to highlight new and existing donors

• Produce profiles/articles (written by freelance writers) about JNF-USA donors throughout the country, including virtual and in-person project dedications in Israel, and pitch them to relevant local news outlets (either through advertorials or earned placements).

• Lead PR efforts for JNF-USA’s Planned Giving Department and Women for Israel You have:

• 5+ years’ experience working in magazine production, editing, PR, and/or journalism

• Impeccable editing and writing skills

• An incredible eye for detail

• A positive ‘do-whatever-it-takes’ attitude

• A demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple moving pieces, and stay cool under pressure

• An intellectually curiosity that enables you to see news and story angles where others don’t

• A desire to work for an organization that promotes respect, accountability, and collaboration

• An ability to connect with anyone and a track-record of building relationships with key stakeholders.

• High EQ

You may also have:

• A working knowledge of the Adobe creative suite

• An understanding of Salesforce’s Inspire workflow tracking platform

• Knowledge of common style guides (e.g., AP, APA, Chicago) and how to apply them correctly

• Experience building relationships with journalists and editors

• A basic understanding of Israeli and Jewish history, practices, and lifecycle events

• An understanding of print production and the creative process

• Qualifications in Marketing, Advertising, Business, Communications, Journalism, or Literature
